The European Commission and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA) are collaborating on an Innovative Medicines Initiative Public-Private Partnership (IMI). IMI recently launched the 2nd call for proposals aimed to facilitate the discovery and development of new medicines and to support data exchange between industry and the scientific community.
Nine calls for proposals launched. Three are related to knowledge management between industry and the scientific community with an emphasis on improving data standards and information sharing that will accelerate drug development. The remaining six are related to research activities that enhance the effectiveness of drugs against cancer, inflammatory and infectious diseases.
The application deadline for the new call for proposals is 8th February 2010 and the results will be announced in summer 2010.
