According to the British media, the Azores will host the XIV edition of the Island Games in 2010

Regional representatives are currently attending the Organizing Island Games Committee (COJI) Annual General Assembly in Papeete (Tahiti), French Polynesia, until Nov. 14.Interviewed in the Jersey Evening Post last week, Jersey's representative Hugh Raymond said: "We are very pleased with the news that it will be in the Azores, not only is it a beautiful place but the fact that it has been confirmed so early on is a real bonus. Last year we didn't find out until the last minute whereas now we are in a position to start planning not only travel aspects but also team selection".The Island Games are an opportunity for athletes between 12 and 16 years of age to meet up and compete in tennis, table tennis, swimming, athletics, gymnastic, sailing and other sports.The Azores joined the Island Games in 1998.
