Philippe Lorec, from the French Ministry of Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development gave this presentation to introduce the Mediterranean Solar Plan 2010-2020, an initiative of the French presidency of the Council of the European Union presented during the Paris Summit of July 2008.
The Mediterranean Solar Plan was conceived to develop renewable energies and energy efficiency measures and reinforce the power grid interconnections and technology transfer in the Mediterranean region.
This presentation provides an overview of the plan, its different phases, the timeline for its implementation and the main objectives it plans to achieve, notably developing 20 GW of new renewable energy production capacities and achieving 20% energy savings around the Mediterranean by 2020.
